Hospice of Central PA is looking for these people:
- Warm, caring, dependable people who can visit patients, support and help family care-givers, run errands, lend a shoulder, or give a hug
- Energetic folk who are willing to help with our special events and fund-raising projects throughout the year
- Creative, independent workers who can take a project and run with it
- Technical folk who like computers and data entry
Our Fall, 2010 training will be held in Harrisburg on Thursday evenings.
For patient care and family support volunteers, we offer extensive training and on-going support. Our eleven week training program will meet on Thursday evenings starting September 9, 2010. We will cover topics related to the care of the terminally ill, such as hospice care concepts, pain control, listening skills, family dynamics, the spiritual aspects of death, dying and loss, and bereavement support. Volunteers who do not wish to do patient care but want to volunteer in our office: you have the option of doing a shorter orientation to our agency and available volunteer opportunities on an on-going basis.
For an application, or for more information, please call
Hospice of Central PA at 732-1000 or 241-0014, or visit our website www.hospiceofcentralpa.org. Applications should be received in the Hospice of Central PA office by August 26, 2010 to allow time for an interview. Direct any questions to Barbara Hardy, Volunteer Coordinator.
